The studio itself is surprisingly spacious for what you pay, and I mean genuinely spacious, not that “cozy” nonsense you usually get. Three rooms gives you actual breathing space, which is rare in Baku’s city center. The owner clearly knows what travelers need – there’s proper kitchen equipment (not just a hot plate), decent WiFi that actually works, and honestly, the bed situation is comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with concrete all night. You know what I appreciated most though? The windows face away from the main street, so you’re not dealing with Baku’s notoriously chaotic traffic noise at 6 AM. Trust me on this – location matters here, and Murtuza Muxtarov is one of those streets that’s busy during the day but settles down at night.

What really sold me on this place was how it sits in Yasamal. You’re maybe fifteen minutes walking to the old city (downhill, which your legs will thank you for), but you’re also right in the middle of where Bakuvians actually hang out. There’s this little tea house around the corner that I stumbled into on my second morning – no English menu, just pointed at what the guy next to me was having and ended up with the best qutab I had during my entire trip. The neighborhood grocery store stays open late, which saved me more than once when I realized I’d forgotten to grab breakfast stuff. And here’s something the booking sites won’t tell you – parking is actually manageable around here, unlike downtown where you’re basically playing automotive Tetris. The metro’s close enough if you need it, but honestly, most of what you want to see in Baku is walkable from this spot if you don’t mind a bit of exercise. I’d say this place punches above its weight for a 3-star rating – it’s not fancy, but it’s thoughtfully set up and the location just works.
