Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to the Qafqaz Baku City on Tbilisi Avenue – I mean, it’s right in the thick of Nasimi district where the traffic can be absolutely brutal during rush hour. But you know what? Sometimes being in the middle of everything is exactly what you want, especially when the hotel itself becomes this surprisingly calm refuge from all the Baku chaos outside.

The thing about this place is that it gets the balance right between feeling upscale without being stuffy about it. Walking into the lobby, there’s this immediate sense that they actually thought about how people move through the space – none of that awkward hovering around trying to figure out where to go. The staff genuinely seems to know what they’re doing too, which honestly can be hit or miss in Baku hotels. I checked in during what must have been their busy period (some oil conference was happening), and they still managed to get me sorted quickly without that rushed feeling you sometimes get. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully designed – someone clearly stayed in hotel rooms before designing these because all the little things work. The lighting actually makes sense, the bathroom has enough counter space for your stuff, and the bed is positioned so you’re not staring directly into a wall or getting blasted by the AC. Plus, the soundproofing is surprisingly good considering you’re literally on one of Baku’s busier streets.

What really won me over though was how the hotel connects you to the city without overwhelming you with it. From the higher floors, you get these glimpses of the Caspian that remind you why people have been drawn to this spot for centuries – but you’re also walking distance from the kind of local restaurants and tea houses that most tourists never stumble across. The neighborhood has this authentic energy that you miss when you’re stuck out by the airport or isolated in some business district. Parking can be a bit of a dance during peak hours (welcome to Baku), but the hotel staff seems to have figured out the local rhythm and can usually point you in the right direction. I mean, it’s a 4-star place that honestly performs like it has something to prove, which in my experience usually means you’re getting better value than the hotels that already think they’ve made it. The whole experience just felt… reliable, I guess? Like they’ve figured out how to deliver what people actually want rather than what they think looks impressive in photos.

  I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The rooms were exceptionally spacious, clean, and well-equipped. The staff were welcoming and attentive, and the overall experience was very comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.
