Jeanne d’Arc Hotel Overview
You know what caught me off guard about the Jeanne d’Arc Hotel? For a 3-star place in Yasamal, it punches way above its weight class. I mean, when you see a 9.3 rating, you wonder if it’s legit – but honestly, after staying there twice now, I get it. The location on İslam Səfərli street is actually perfect if you know Baku at all. You’re far enough from the Old City crowds to sleep peacefully (and trust me, those cobblestones can get loud with tour groups), but close enough that a quick taxi ride gets you anywhere you want to be. The Yasamal district has this lived-in feel that I really appreciate – there’s a great little bakery about two blocks down where locals grab their morning bread, and you’ll hear actual Azerbaijani conversations instead of just tourist chatter.
The hotel itself has this slightly old-fashioned charm that works in its favor. The lobby smells like fresh coffee and something vaguely floral – maybe it’s their cleaning products, but it’s not overwhelming like some places. Check-in was smooth both times, and the staff actually remembers you if you stay more than a couple nights, which is rare these days. The rooms are clean and well-maintained, nothing fancy but everything works properly. I particularly liked that the windows actually open (you’d be surprised how many newer hotels seal you in), and the street noise is minimal – mostly just the occasional car and maybe some morning bird sounds from the small park nearby. The Wi-Fi is solid, which matters if you’re trying to upload photos or video call home. What really impressed me was the consistency – my room was equally clean and comfortable both visits, same quality linens, same attention to detail.
Here’s the thing about this place – it’s not trying to be something it’s not. You won’t find a spa or rooftop pool, but you will find genuinely helpful service and a good night’s sleep at a reasonable price. The breakfast (when they’re serving it) is simple but fresh, and they’re happy to give recommendations for local restaurants if you ask. Parking can be a bit tricky on that street, but there’s usually something within a block or two. I’d definitely book this again, especially if you’re the type of traveler who prefers authentic neighborhood vibes over generic hotel experiences. It’s become my go-to spot in Baku, actually – sometimes the best places are the ones that just quietly do everything right without making a big fuss about it.

Reviews of Jeanne d’Arc Hotel
Home away from Home in the Heart of the Tourist District of Baku – Richard from Bahrain – 14 June 2025 (10/10)
Big room with plenty of space; aircon works well. Great location at Mirza Ibrahimov, 5 (the hotel has shifted from the previous location on Islam Safarlı,16, and also goes by another name Versailles). Managers Emil and Jayhun are very friendly. Wifi works well in the room and there is a desk ideal for working on your computer. There are three sets of electrical outlets in the room in addition to a large wardrobe. Common kitchen has both a stove and an oven. Bed is comfortable provided your height is less than 185cm. There is an additional anteroom with a small sofa. High ceilings. Renovated rooms with new furnishings. Remodeled house that likely belong to a high ranking Communist Party official or KGB officer in Soviet days.
What could be improved: No small refrigerator in the room (although guests have access to a large common refrigerator). Ensuite bathroom in room 203 is slightly cramped with the sink a bit too low and small but otherwise okay. Some extra cookware beside a frying pan in the common kitchen would be desirable if a guest intends to cook (that would facilitate longer guest stays).Superb – Singh from India – 7 June 2025 (9/10)
Excellent staff n people..loved it

We had booked the Standard Quadruple Room- two huge rooms totally worth the price. Since the room was under final renovation (probably due to Baku being off-season in March), the floor was a bit dusty which the cleaner quickly dusted off for us. The staff is very friendly, helpful & courteous. The location has good accessibilty (walkable distance) to most tourist places including Nizami Street & others.
