High Xatai Apart Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to High Xatai Apart on Xətai prospekti, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like just another apartment building in Baku’s newer district. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that surprise you, and this four-star spot absolutely delivered on that front.
The thing about staying here is that you’re really living like a local in the Xətai area, which honestly gives you a completely different perspective of Baku than if you’d stayed down in the Old City with all the other tourists. The apartments themselves are spacious – I mean, actually spacious, not hotel-room-spacious – with proper kitchens that you can cook in (the nearby Bravo supermarket is perfect for groceries, by the way). The decor is modern without being sterile, and I actually found myself lounging around more than usual because the living areas were so comfortable. Check-in was surprisingly smooth too, though the staff’s English is a bit hit-or-miss – not a big deal if you’re patient and have translation apps handy.
What really won me over was how quiet it gets at night, despite being on a main avenue. The windows must have decent soundproofing because even with Baku’s infamous evening traffic, I slept better than I do at home. The location is actually brilliant once you figure out the city – you’re maybe fifteen minutes by taxi to the Flame Towers and the waterfront, but you can also walk to some fantastic local restaurants that tourists never find. There’s this little kebab place two blocks down that I stumbled across on my second night… honestly, better than anything I had in the touristy areas. Parking isn’t a nightmare either, which anyone who’s driven in Baku will appreciate. The only minor gripe I had was that the WiFi could be a bit spotty in the evenings when everyone’s streaming, but during the day it was perfectly fine for work calls and uploading photos. If you’re the type who needs to be in the thick of everything immediately, this might feel a bit removed, but if you want to experience Baku like someone who actually lives there – with the convenience of proper hotel service when you need it – High Xatai Apart hits that sweet spot perfectly.
