Honestly, when I first saw the address on Teymur Elçin street, I wasn’t sure what to expect – but this place actually surprised me in the best way. The Flame Towers metro Icheri Sheher sits in this interesting spot where you’re technically in Yasamal district but you can practically walk to Old City (that’s what Icheri Sheher means, by the way). The thing that got me right away was how you can see those iconic flame-shaped towers from certain rooms – I mean, they’re literally the symbol of modern Baku, and there they are just hanging out in your window view.

What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood. When I asked about getting to the metro, they didn’t just point vaguely down the street – they told me exactly which exit to use and mentioned that the evening rush gets pretty packed around 6 PM, so maybe grab dinner first. The rooms themselves have this clean, contemporary feel without being sterile, you know? The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms are well-designed with decent water pressure. I stayed on the fourth floor and it was surprisingly quiet considering you’re in the middle of everything – though I could hear some street activity in the mornings, which honestly felt kind of authentic rather than annoying.

The location thing is where this place really shines, though. You’re walking distance from Fountain Square, which is basically where all the action happens, but you’re not right in the thick of the tourist chaos. I could stroll to the Old City walls in about fifteen minutes, and there’s this little bakery two blocks over (near the corner with the blue building – locals will know) that does incredible fresh bread in the mornings. The 9-star rating makes sense when you consider it’s not trying to be some flashy resort – it’s just solid, well-run, and positioned perfectly for actually experiencing Baku rather than being stuck in a hotel bubble. Plus, and this matters if you’re dealing with flight delays or long travel days, the check-in process was refreshingly smooth. No endless forms or upselling, just “here’s your key, the elevator’s to your left, enjoy your stay.”

  I was met by the landlord on arrival and he showed me round the unit. It had every thing I needed.
  
  What could be improved: The building is a little run down, but the unit is fine. The curtains don't quite block out the light.
