Fairmont Baku, Flame Towers Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of fancy hotels around the world, but walking into the Fairmont Baku honestly made me stop in my tracks. You know how most luxury hotels try to impress you with their lobby? Well, this place doesn’t need to try – when you’re literally inside one of Baku’s famous Flame Towers, the building itself is the statement. The views from up here are absolutely insane, and I mean that in the best way possible. You can see the entire Caspian Sea stretching out forever, plus the whole Old City (locals call it Icherisheher) spread out below like some medieval movie set.
What really got me though was how they’ve managed to make this massive tower feel actually welcoming. The staff – and I’m talking everyone from the doormen to housekeeping – seem genuinely happy to help, not just going through the motions. My room was on the 18th floor facing the sea, and honestly, I probably spent way too much time just staring out the window. The rooms themselves are sleek without being cold, if that makes sense. Everything works properly (which isn’t always a given in Baku, trust me), the Wi-Fi is solid, and the beds are the kind where you sink in just enough without feeling like you’re being swallowed.
Here’s the thing about location – you’re right in Sabayil district, which means you’re walking distance from the Boulevard (that’s the waterfront promenade where everyone goes to stroll in the evenings) and maybe a 10-minute drive to the Old City’s maze of cobblestone streets. The hotel runs a decent shuttle service, but honestly, taxis are so cheap here that it’s hardly worth worrying about. One small heads up though – weekends can get pretty lively around this area since you’re near some of Baku’s hottest nightlife spots, so if you’re a light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs or request a higher floor. The breakfast spread is genuinely impressive too, with everything from fresh Azerbaijani honey (seriously, try it) to proper international options. I mean, where else can you have caviar and pancakes in the same meal without feeling ridiculous? The 8.6 rating makes total sense – it’s not quite perfect (the spa could use some updating, and check-in can be slow during peak oil conference season), but it’s pretty damn close to what you’d want from a five-star experience in this part of the world.

Everything was perfect, loved the environment and it was very clean and staff was hospitable towards the guests. Everything was just right.
What could be improved: The girl at balcon cafe denied snacks saying those are for other guests although the snacks were included in the gold package. Which I paid an extra 135 manats for. So that was not good. Did not like it at all.Exceptional – Shane from Pakistan – 30 June 2025 (10/10)

What could be improved: BetterExceptional – Nilnim from Turkey – 22 June 2025 (10/10)
Amazing warm welcoming hosts. Very comfortable bed, large rooms, beautiful view, peaceful, quiet but also close to city centre.
What could be improved: The hotel is located on a steep street, walking from downtown is a bit hectic. Traffic lights to cross the road near the hotel is sort of far. Was a trouble getting to the hotel by walking.
Breakfast could be better.
We were charged by the hotel way before our reservation date, even though the booking conditions weren't as so. The receptionist was unaware even though we told them at check-in. At check out they weren't even aware of this situation. Asked for an explanation, we were given unreasonable answers. We were a big group, this caused a dispute as the staff hotel were clueless.
