Courtyard by Marriott Baku Overview
You know what struck me first about the Courtyard by Marriott Baku? It’s actually positioned perfectly at this intersection where Fuzuli and Topchubashov streets meet – and I mean that in the best way possible. The location gives you this interesting vantage point of the city without being stuck right in the tourist chaos. When you’re walking around Nasimi district, you get this authentic feel of how locals actually live, which honestly made my stay feel less like a hotel bubble experience.
The building itself has that modern Marriott polish, but it doesn’t feel sterile like some chain hotels can. I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet my room was, considering it’s on a fairly busy intersection – they’ve clearly invested in decent soundproofing. The lobby has this warm, welcoming energy (probably helped by the genuinely friendly front desk staff who seemed to actually enjoy their jobs). Check-in was smooth, and they had helpful suggestions about getting around the city that you could tell came from real local knowledge, not just rehearsed tourist scripts. The rooms are well-appointed without being fancy – you’ve got everything you need, comfortable beds, reliable WiFi, and bathrooms that actually have decent water pressure, which can be hit or miss in this part of the world.
What really won me over was how the hotel serves as this perfect home base for exploring Baku. You’re close enough to walk to some great local restaurants and cafes that most tourists never find, but you can also easily grab a taxi to the Old City or the Flame Towers without dealing with major traffic headaches. The Nasimi area has this lived-in charm – you’ll see families out for evening strolls, local bakeries that smell incredible in the morning, and these small parks where people actually hang out. Parking was straightforward if you’re renting a car, though honestly Baku’s public transport and taxis work pretty well from this spot. I stayed during what I later learned was a busier season, but the hotel never felt overcrowded or chaotic. The breakfast was solid – not extraordinary, but definitely better than the continental breakfast disappointments you sometimes get at chain hotels. Staff genuinely seemed to care about making sure guests were comfortable, and I appreciated that they didn’t oversell the city’s attractions but gave realistic advice about timing and logistics. It’s the kind of place where you can unwind after a day of sightseeing without feeling like you’re missing out on the local experience by staying somewhere too isolated or touristy.

Courtyard Baku boasts to be the best hotel as heard from locals. Have been to Baku twice and the stay here didn’t disappoint. We got a mini balcony (great view), the room was big, the breakfast options everyday was amazing and the bed&pillows were the comfiest! It’s also very near to the sights plus a grocery store (Bravo) was just below. So everything was nice!
