You know what struck me first about Chambers Old City Hotel? It’s actually tucked inside the ancient walls of Icherisheher – like, properly inside the UNESCO World Heritage site. I mean, you’re literally staying within medieval fortifications that have been standing for over a thousand years. The entrance on Kichik Qala street is easy to miss if you’re not looking for it, which honestly adds to the charm. It’s this intimate boutique spot that feels more like a well-kept secret than your typical 4-star chain hotel.

The whole place has this authentic Azerbaijani character that you don’t get in the newer parts of Baku. Walking through the narrow cobblestone alleys to get there, you’ll pass the Maiden Tower (it’s literally a two-minute walk) and all these little carpet shops and tea houses that have been family-run for generations. Inside the hotel, they’ve done this brilliant job of blending modern comfort with the historic architecture – exposed stone walls, traditional elements, but you’ve still got proper Wi-Fi and decent air conditioning, which… trust me, you’ll appreciate during Baku’s summer months.

What I really loved was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re in the heart of the old city. The thick walls block out most street noise, and since cars can’t really navigate these medieval streets anyway, it’s surprisingly peaceful. The staff actually knows the area inside and out – they’ll point you toward the best plov place (there’s this incredible spot near Juma Mosque that tourists never find) or tell you the optimal time to visit the Palace of the Shirvanshahs without crowds. Honestly, the 8.2 rating feels about right – it’s not luxury resort perfect, but it nails that sweet spot of authentic location, solid comfort, and genuine local hospitality. If you want to wake up and step directly into 12th-century Baku rather than modern downtown, this is your place.

  The hotel staff was extremely helpful and hospitable. They helped with every little need. They made me feel so welcomed. The hotel also felt very secure. They buzz visitors in. They also accompany delivery personnel to the room if you order food. The hotel and rooms were very clean. The hotel is also very close to all tourist attractions. The breakfast was awesome! The lovely chef would make me special dishes every morning. She was so nice and hospitable as well. I will definitely stay here again when visiting Baku.
  
  What could be improved: The only thing that was a let down was that there was no laundry service. However, it is a boutique hotel, so its understandable that its not available.

  Room was very clean and it has been kept clean over my staying. Personnel was friendly and the location of the hotel was great since everything was walking distance, and we felt extremely safe both in the hotel and in the area.
  
  What could be improved: We had issues processing the payment with our American cards, so we had to withdraw some cash. I would recommend them to have a POS able to process American card payments.

  Good bed & pillow. Ok for a few nights , but make sure to get deluxe room. Standard room are facing walls or are in the basement. Definitely not a 4star!! Needs renovation. Breakfast is ok but needs more variety. No real coffee at this 4star hotel.

  Breakfast was good
  .plenty of food..the view was the breakfast table was fabulous. Staff friendly…the location was fantastic we loved the fact it was in the old City so no traffic noise and we could wander the laneways into the main tourist area.

  Great location and great value for money in the centre of Icheriseher, the room is sizable with everything you need, definitely recommended for people loves the vibe of old town, the breakfast restaurant on the rooftop has good view of the town.
  
  What could be improved: The place says they take cards but claims the POS terminal is not functional and they never managed to fix it throughout. Also the breakfast is rather plain.
  
  The lower cost rooms are in the basement, but I did not mind since I am out most of the day and the darkness helps with sleep.
