Honestly, Casa del Imperio caught me off guard – and I mean that in the best way possible. You know how sometimes you book a place based on photos and ratings, then show up expecting to be disappointed? Well, this wasn’t one of those times. The moment you walk into the lobby, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cared about creating something special here, not just another cookie-cutter business hotel.

The location is what really sold me on this place, though. Being right in Sabayil means you’re basically in the heart of everything that matters in Baku – I could walk to the Old City walls in maybe ten minutes, and the Flame Towers are right there dominating the skyline when you look out most windows. What I didn’t expect was how quiet it actually gets at night, considering you’re so close to all the action. The building itself seems to buffer a lot of the street noise, which honestly saved my sleep schedule more than once. The staff – and this is where you can tell a place has its act together – they actually knew the neighborhood. I mean, they could tell me which entrance to use for the Shirvanshah’s Palace to avoid the tour groups, or where to grab proper Azerbaijani breakfast that wasn’t touristy nonsense.

The rooms themselves hit that sweet spot between comfortable and actually interesting to be in. Nothing too fancy or trying-too-hard, but everything worked the way it should, and the beds were legitimately good (I’m picky about mattresses after too many business trips on terrible ones). The bathrooms were well thought out too – decent water pressure, which you can’t always count on, and enough space to actually move around. What I really appreciated, though, was how the whole place felt authentic to where you are. You’re not getting some generic international hotel experience; there are local touches and design elements that remind you you’re in Baku, not Dubai or Istanbul or anywhere else. Check-in was smooth, no drama with credit cards or deposits, and they had good recommendations for dinner spots that weren’t the obvious tourist traps. The 9-rating makes total sense once you’ve been there – it’s not trying to be a luxury resort, but it absolutely nails what it is trying to be.

  I had guests visiting from Europe, and I booked this hotel for them. Honestly, I was a bit nervous at first, but they ended up really enjoying their stay. They especially appreciated the cleanliness, the friendly staff, and the quality of the breakfast. The hotel’s central location made it easy for them to explore the city. Hearing all the positive feedback from them really put my mind at ease. I would definitely recommend this place.

  What could be improved: Stay away of this place! This is fraud, please read my review until the end. I booked this hotel because it had rating 10, checked in and went to my room. And it was the worst room i ever seen in my life. There is no ventilation and you feel the smell of mustiness and you exactly see all the celling covered by mustiness, some part of walls. Everything is so dirty and broken! Bed sheets is dirty, walls, bathroom, just everything! All sockets are broken. I have no words to describe this disgusting room and hotel. Please compere my photos to photographs provided by this hotel. So, i went to reception asking for refund to move to another place immediately. But they refused to refund and i had to find new hotel in the midnight. Then i asked myself why this hotel has rating 10, because it's just the worst in the world. I checked for Booking again and found two hotels of the same place. One of them is 6.5 rating and the other one i chosen is 10. But this is just fraud, because this is the same hotel and they created duplicate to hide bad rating. That's not a full story. Next morning i came back to try to get my money back. After long discussion they refund me about half of payment. The most interesting part of this story is just to begin. On the way to airport i received email from booking.com of confirmation review posting. What?? I didn't leave a review. I opened my Booking app and see review 10 of 10 about this hotel posted from my account! Only that time i got what happened. When i was at check in desk the stuff asked me to show him my booking confirmation. I only had it in my phone, so i gave him my phone and he hide it for about a minute from my eyes behind check-in desk. I thought he was just comparing information to his computer. But he left a 10 of 10 review from my phone!! So, please, just stay away from this place and don't believe any good review of this hotel as they possibly been posted in the same illegal way!
