It’s tucked away on Afiyaddin Jalilov Street, which is actually perfect because you’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough from the main tourist chaos to get a decent night’s sleep. The lobby has this understated elegance thing going on – not trying too hard, if you know what I mean. Clean lines, comfortable seating, and the staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests arrive, which… well, that’s not always a given.

What really got me was the attention to detail throughout the place. The rooms are spacious by Baku standards (and I mean properly spacious, not that “cozy” nonsense), and they’ve clearly thought about what travelers actually need. Plenty of outlets near the bed, blackout curtains that actually work, and – this might sound minor but it’s huge – the air conditioning runs quietly. I’ve been kept awake by rattling AC units more times than I care to count. The bathroom fixtures feel solid, not like they’ll break if you look at them wrong, and the water pressure is consistently strong even on higher floors. You’re maybe a fifteen-minute walk to the old city if you’re the exploring type, or there’s always a taxi if you’re feeling lazy. The neighborhood itself is pretty quiet in the evenings, mostly residential with a few local cafes that serve proper Azerbaijani tea – definitely worth checking out if you want to see how locals actually live.

Here’s the thing that really sold me on this place: it feels authentic without being stuffy about it. The 9.6 rating isn’t inflated tourist nonsense – you can tell the hotel genuinely cares about the experience. Breakfast is solid (they do a mean menemen), and housekeeping is thorough without being intrusive. I actually extended my stay by two nights, which I rarely do. The whole operation runs smoothly, from check-in to checkout, and the location gives you that perfect balance of being in the city but not overwhelmed by it. If you’re planning to explore Baku’s mix of old and new architecture, this makes an excellent base – you can walk to the Flame Towers area when you want the modern Baku experience, then retreat back to your quiet street when you need to recharge. Honestly, for a four-star place, it punches well above its weight class.
