You know what caught me off guard about Apartment The Garden? The name doesn’t really do it justice – I mean, when I first saw it on Nizami Street, I was expecting something more… well, garden-y. But honestly, this place has way more character than most five-star spots I’ve stayed at in Baku.

The location is actually brilliant if you know the city at all. You’re right in the heart of Sabayil, which means you can walk to the Old City in about fifteen minutes (though let’s be real, you’ll probably get distracted by all the cafes along the way). Nizami Street itself gets pretty lively, especially in the evenings when locals are out for their strolls, but the apartment is set back just enough that you’re not dealing with street noise all night. I stayed there during Novruz season – so peak busy time – and could still sleep with the windows cracked open.

What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to feel luxurious without being stuffy about it. The apartment itself is spacious in that way that’s rare for city center properties, and they’ve got these massive windows that let in incredible light during the day. The kitchen actually functions properly (you’d be surprised how many “luxury” places skimp on this), which was clutch since finding decent breakfast spots nearby can be hit or miss. Speaking of nearby – there’s this little bakery about two blocks down that locals queue up at every morning, and honestly, their fresh bread beats any hotel continental breakfast.

The building itself has that solid, well-maintained feel you want when you’re paying five-star prices. Check-in was smooth, though I’d recommend confirming your arrival time since the front desk isn’t staffed 24/7 like a traditional hotel. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this part of town – there’s street parking, but during busy periods you might end up walking a few blocks. Not a dealbreaker, just something to factor in if you’re renting a car.

I mean, look, it’s not perfect – the Wi-Fi got a bit spotty during peak hours, and the shower pressure could be better. But there’s something authentic about staying here that you miss in the big international chains. You feel like you’re actually experiencing Baku rather than just visiting it. Plus, having that much space to spread out after days of walking around the city? Priceless. For the price point and location, it’s honestly one of the better options in central Baku, especially if you’re staying more than a couple nights and want somewhere that feels less like a hotel room and more like a temporary home base.
