The moment you step through that heavy wooden door (apartment 12, up a narrow stone staircase that’s probably been worn smooth by centuries of footsteps), you realize you’re not just staying somewhere in Baku – you’re literally living inside the ancient walls of the Old City.

What really gets me about this place is how seamlessly it blends the old with the genuinely comfortable. The apartment itself has been thoughtfully renovated without losing that authentic medieval atmosphere – thick stone walls that keep things surprisingly cool even during those sweltering Caspian summer days, and windows that frame views you’d normally pay museum admission to see. You know what’s brilliant though? The owner clearly understands that travelers need modern comforts too. The Wi-Fi actually works (shocking, I know, for a place with 12th-century foundations), the bathroom has proper water pressure, and there’s a kitchen that’s actually functional – not just decorative. I spent most mornings making coffee and planning my day while listening to the sounds of the Old Town waking up below: vendors setting up their stalls, the call to prayer echoing off ancient stones, tourists already chattering excitedly in a dozen different languages.

The location is absolutely unbeatable if you want to experience Baku properly. Step outside and you’re immediately surrounded by the Maiden Tower, the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, tiny carpet shops tucked into medieval archways, and those impossibly narrow cobblestone streets that Google Maps has absolutely no idea how to navigate. But here’s the insider tip – while you’re right in the heart of everything historic, you’re also just a ten-minute walk from the modern waterfront and all those fancy restaurants along Bulvar. The contrast is honestly mind-blowing: one minute you’re touching 800-year-old stones, the next you’re staring at those wild Flame Towers lighting up the night sky. I’ll be honest, the only tiny downside is that those cobblestones can get a bit echoey when tour groups parade through early in the morning – but honestly, that’s part of the charm of staying somewhere this authentically historic. With a 9.9 rating, this place clearly knows how to make travelers feel like they’ve discovered something special, and after spending a week here, I completely understand why.

  Благодаря Алле Борисовне и ее уютной квартире, расположенной в самом центре Баку, в Старом городе наше пребывание в столице Азербайджана было очень приятным и лишенным лишних забот. Такой заботливой и гостеприимной хозяйки я , пожалуй, не встречала, почти всегда в путешествиях предпочитая частный сектор отелям. Спасибо большое!

  Wir waren nun bereits zum zweiten Mal im Apartment von Alla Borisowna – und es war wieder einfach großartig! Die Wohnung ist sehr sauber, gemütlich eingerichtet und bestens ausgestattet.
  
  Alla Borisovna ist eine äußerst freundliche und aufmerksame Gastgeberin, die sich wirklich um das Wohl ihrer Gäste kümmert.
  
  Die Lage in der Altstadt ist unschlagbar: viele Sehenswürdigkeiten, charmante Cafés und Restaurants befinden sich in unmittelbarer Nähe – ideal, um die Stadt zu erkunden.
  
  Wir haben uns wieder rundum wohlgefühlt und werden ganz sicher gerne ein drittes Mal wiederkommen!

  В конце апреля-начале мая я посетила город Баку и эта поездка превзошла все мои ожидания. Баку очаровал своей атмосферой. Изначально я рассматривала для проживания центр Баку, но ознакомившись более углубленно, сделала вывод, что всё-таки туристы едут в Баку с целью посмотреть бакинские башни, дворцы, погулять по Старому городу, прокатиться на гондолах по бакинской Венеции, привезенных специально из Италии. Поскольку, это была моя первая поездка в столицу Азербайджана, то полагалась я на мнение туристов и не ошиблась. По этой причине я выбрала "место дислокации" именно в Старом городе. Необходимо было забронировать жильё. Я пересмотрела много фото отелей и перечитала много отзывов, отзывы были примерно-верно однообразные, тогда я стала ориентироваться на рейтинги и оценки. Таким образом, мне попалась квартира Аллы Борисовны. Алла Борисовна чудесная, коммуникабельная, добрая женщина! Мы с ней обо всем договорились по телефону ещё до моего приезда, Прилетела я рано утром в 5 утра. Алла Борисовна организовала мне трансфер со встречей в аэропорту, а также сама встретила меня в 5 утра у ворот в Старый город. Проводила до квартира (там идти 2 минуты), всё показала, рассказала, даже стол накрыла. Квартира у неё прекрасная! Расположение супер удобное, как до достопримечательностей, так и до магазинов и кафе, рядом Девичья башня, кафе "Черт побери" и разные другие кафе. Рядом-это значит 5 минут пешком. А я везде ходила пешком. В квартире есть всё необходимое. Начиная с бытовой техники, заканчивая тапочками, гигиеническими принадлежностями и туалетной бумагой. Я всё привезла с собой, но можно было и не везти ничего. Езжайте на легке, место в чемодане вам пригодится для других вещей (если вы Девушка), так как рядом есть два больших молла и там множество бутиков. В квартире есть шкаф, плечиков много, утюг и гладильная доска имеются.Подведу итог: выбирайте смело эту квартиру! Уверяю вам понравится и квартира и её очаровательная хозяйка!

  Чудесные апартаменты с отличным расположением в центре Старого города. Отдыхали неделю и только радовались, что выбрали именно это место для проживания. Комфортно, чисто, аутентично! Хорошая кровать, телевизор с русскими каналами, вай фай. Транспортом не пользовались, все рядом – набережная, русский драмтеатр, в который настоятельно рекомендуем сходить, парки, музеи, рестораны. Вот разве только до центра Алиева доехали на метро, просто хотелось на станции глянуть.
  А самая главная ценность этих апартов – это Алла Борисовна! Доброжелательность, внимательность, чуткость сотого уровня! Не всегда родственники так встречают. Полная корзина фруктов, сладости, кулич и яйца освящённые !!!!! наш любимый турецкий кофе! Трансфер организовала, билеты в театр купила, потерянный в первый же день телефон, помогла вернуть! Волшебный человек! Такая душевность и отношение дорогого стоят!
  Вчера прилетели домой, а уже планируем вернуться)) Алла Борисовна, здоровья Вам и сил!

  Все было круто! В первый день нас встретила Алла Борисовна, провела мини экскурсию по окрестностям, а в домике нас ждали фрукты и сладости. Апартаменты чистые и уютные. Расположение отличное. Значительная часть достопримечательностей Баку находится в пешей доступности. Несмотря на то, что апартаменты располагаются внутри крепостных стен старого города, ночью было тихо.
  В последний день нашего пребывания Алла Борисовна пришла нас проводить и подарила прощальные сувениры.

  We liked the landlady she was very kind and helpful. She had everything in the apartment you could think of and walked us to a grocery store the first night and helped us to get the best deal on taxi when leaving.
