I stayed on the seventh floor and honestly, the room was bigger than most London hotels charge double for. The bed was one of those firm-but-not-hard situations that actually let me sleep through Baku’s morning traffic noise. Speaking of noise – it’s surprisingly quiet for a main street location, though you’ll hear some car sounds if you’re a light sleeper.

Here’s what I really appreciated: the business center actually works. Like, the printers don’t jam every five minutes, the wifi doesn’t cut out during video calls, and there are enough power outlets that you’re not crawling under desks looking for plugs. The restaurant downstairs does solid Azerbaijani food – their plov is legit – plus they get that sometimes you just want a decent burger after a long day of meetings. Room service came faster than promised, which never happens anywhere else. The whole place runs smoothly in that understated way where everything just… works. It’s about a 15-minute taxi ride to the Flame Towers if you want the touristy stuff, but honestly, I liked being slightly removed from all that. You’re still in the heart of things, just not drowning in it.   There was a bit of confusion at check-in and they had trouble finding our reservation. At first we were a bit worried, but the receptionist was very helpful and solved the issue quickly.
