So I stayed at the Ambassador Apartment on Sabit Rəhman street last month, and honestly? It’s one of those places that surprises you. The building itself looks pretty impressive from the outside – you know, that polished five-star vibe – but what struck me was how it actually felt more like staying in someone’s really nice apartment rather than a stuffy hotel.
The location is actually fantastic if you know Baku at all. You’re right in the thick of things but not drowning in tourist chaos, which I really appreciated. I could walk to the Old City in about fifteen minutes, and there’s this little bakery around the corner that serves the most incredible qutab – the kind of local spot you’d never find unless you were staying in the neighborhood. The Flame Towers are visible from some of the rooms too, which is pretty cool when they light up at night. Parking was surprisingly hassle-free, by the way – something that can be a real headache in central Baku.
Now, I’ll be straight with you – the 7/10 rating makes sense when you dig into it. The apartments themselves are spacious and well-appointed, with kitchenettes that are actually functional (not just for show), and the beds are genuinely comfortable. The staff was helpful, though sometimes communication took a bit of patience if your Azerbaijani is as rusty as mine. What I loved was the flexibility – you could come and go without feeling like you were bothering anyone, and having a proper fridge meant I could grab stuff from the Green Bazaar and actually store it properly. The Wi-Fi worked well, which honestly saved my trip since I needed to work a few mornings. I mean, it’s not going to blow your mind like some of the ultra-luxury places, but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about it. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after 10 PM, so if you’re someone who needs their sleep (guilty), you’ll appreciate that. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was planning a longer visit to Baku – it’s got that lived-in comfort that makes a city feel less foreign.
